Social Media website gives boost to Conservation and Exmoor National Park Authority

Date posted: 15/01/10

Exmoor National Park Authority, with the assistance of Devon Creative Agency Brighter Creative, have recently received a huge boost to a new Conservation & Heritage initiative by being awarded a £662, 500 grant from Heritage Lottery Fund, which will now be matched by key regional partners.

The Exmoor Moorland Partnership Scheme aims to engage with more people in the South West Region and beyond, bringing focus to issues such as Reconnecting Livelihoods, Reconnecting People and Reconditioning the Moorland. Central to the initiative will be a Social Media website concept and strategy devised by Brighter Creative.

After successfully winning a competitive tender process in 2009, Brighter Creative were commissioned to devise a robust concept, strategy and pilot website, giving credibility to the proposed scheme to meet the rigorous approval process imposed by Heritage Lottery Fund.

Sam Fisher, Creative Director of Brighter Creative Said:

“Social Media can be and should used to increase profit and prosperity, but it works as a two way communication channel, which is why integrating Social Media concepts with a project such as this one will have profound consequences.

The great news about the grant from the HLF means we have the scope to develop a visually awe inspiring, informative website and brand that also allows Exmoor’s surrounding communities to be actively involved in the projects, however it is not confined to local communities. The premise of the project is to reconnect not only people who are local residents, but the British public and beyond, giving the moorland a global reach.

The brilliance of implementing a Social Media strategy is that it has very few boundaries when it comes to reaching multiple demographics. The moorland is there for people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy and we’re relishing the opportunity that’s been given to us to reconnect people back to one of the countries most beautiful landscapes.

Integrating a Social Media strategy with a fantastic project such as this one will reform the way people use and perceive the moorlands, something which we’re privileged to be a part of. The upcoming months promise to be an exciting time for us as we begin to turn our initial concepts and designs into something that will provoke change and inspire people to reconnect the with moorlands”
